If you are a resident of Alor Setar, you will certainly know that this is one of the finest places to eat in the city, and while you are in the city, you will be here. While it is referred to as nasi lemak, it is not really one, but similar to nasi kandar or nasi ganja. The speciality is the soft yellow rice, and the generous amount of curry and gravy mix that floods and soaks your rice just over. The gravy mix is spicy, soft and a little tangy.

 

4. Nasi Lemak Royale Jalil

It’s more like a nasi kandar than a nasi lemak but it’s pretty good. The fried chicken is well marinated and crispy. The gravy is a tad too salty for my taste. There’s a queue but it wont take long before your turn to place order. It’s delicious and you can choose various of side dish like fried fish, meat, squid, ulam and many more.  Interestingly the boy whom took our drinks list wrote Arabic.

 

5. AT Satay Semeling

AT Satay Semeling, you can get satay for 45 sen a piece! Yes, you can eat chicken satay and meat satay at the same price as you know at Semeling. In addition to chicken and meat satay, you can also eat goat, belly and deer satay. The price for goat and belly satay is only 70 sen per pike and RM 1.20 for deer satay. It is worth it if you bring your family to eat here.

 

6. Nasi Lemak Haji Ali

BBQ Sticky Lamb Rib, Korean Spicy Lamb Rib, and Bombay Chicken Chop are some of the menus you can find at Overstepped Café. The food was delicious and it took a while to get our order. The price is affordable but you can get a discount if you register as a member.

 

9. Big Galley’s Cafe

The cafe serves Western food and is quite popular with its pancakes. Compared to regular pancakes, according to customers here, the pancakes at Lugano Coffee House are soft and not too sweet. Served with chocolate ice cream, we are sure it can make anyone fall in love.
